This Privacy Policy describes how Sabotiq Quiz Engine ("we", "us", "our"), operated as a sole proprietorship, collects, uses, and protects information when you use our WordPress plugin (free and Pro versions) and our website at sabotiq.pro (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account & License Data: When you purchase Sabotiq Pro, our payment processor (Freemius) collects your name, email address, and billing information to process the transaction and manage your license.
- Support Requests: If you contact us, we collect the information you include in your message (name, email, site URL, issue description).
1.2 Information Collected by the Plugin
- Quiz Participant Data: When users take a quiz, the plugin may collect their name, email address (if the quiz owner enables lead capture), quiz scores, and answers. This data is stored in the WordPress database on the quiz owner's server — we do not have access to it.
- Leaderboard & Profile Data: Player display names and scores are stored locally in the site's WordPress database.
- Cookies: The plugin uses cookies to track quiz retake limits and A/B test variant assignments. These are functional cookies and do not track users across sites.
1.3 Information Collected via Freemius SDK
Our Pro plugin includes the Freemius SDK for license management, updates, and optional usage analytics. Freemius may collect diagnostic data such as your WordPress version, PHP version, active theme, site URL, and plugin settings. You can opt out of diagnostic data sharing during plugin activation. 2. Third-Party Services
The plugin integrates with the following third-party services. Each is optional and only active when explicitly configured by the site administrator:
2.1 OpenAI (AI Quiz Generator — Pro only)
When you use the AI Quiz Generator, the text or topic you provide is sent to OpenAI's API to generate quiz questions. We do not store or access any data sent to OpenAI. Please review OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
2.2 Stripe (Payment Gate — Pro only)
If you enable Stripe payments, quiz participants' payment data is processed directly by Stripe. We do not store credit card details on our servers. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
2.3 PayPal (Payment Gate — Pro only)
If you enable PayPal payments, payment processing is handled by PayPal. We receive order confirmation data (order ID, status) but not full payment details. See PayPal's Privacy Policy.
2.4 Google Sign-In (Optional)
If a Google Client ID is configured, users can sign in with their Google account. The plugin receives the user's name, email, and profile picture URL from Google's verified token. No data is sent to Google beyond the standard authentication flow. See Google's Privacy Policy.
2.5 WhatsApp Share Links (Optional)
If social sharing is enabled, a WhatsApp share button is displayed. Clicking it opens the WhatsApp app with a pre-filled message. No data is sent to WhatsApp by the plugin — the link simply opens the user's WhatsApp application.
2.6 YouTube Embeds (Optional)
If a quiz question includes a YouTube video URL, the plugin uses a standard YouTube iframe embed. No additional data is sent to YouTube beyond what a normal embed provides. See Google's Privacy Policy.
2.7 Webhooks & CRM Integration (Pro only)
If you configure webhook URLs, the plugin sends quiz results (participant email, score, outcome) to those endpoints. You are responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party service you connect via webhooks (Zapier, Make, CRM platforms, etc.).
3. How We Use Information
- To provide and maintain the Service (license validation, plugin updates).
- To process purchases and manage subscriptions via Freemius.
- To respond to support requests.
- To improve the plugin based on aggregated, anonymized usage data (only if you opt in via Freemius).
4. Data Storage & Security
Quiz participant data is stored exclusively in the WordPress database of the site running the plugin. We, as plugin developers, do not have access to this data. License and purchase data is managed by Freemius and stored on their servers.
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect the information we process. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.
5. Data Retention
- Quiz data: Stored on the site owner's server until they delete it. Uninstalling the plugin does not delete quiz data by default, to prevent accidental data loss.
- License data: Retained by Freemius for the duration of your subscription and as required by applicable law.
- Support data: Retained for as long as necessary to resolve and reference your inquiry.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data. For data held by us (support inquiries, license data), contact us at admin@sabotiq.pro. For quiz participant data, please contact the site owner running the quiz, as they are the data controller for that information.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through a quiz, please contact the site owner running the quiz.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
